Today with so many youth soccer leagues, and the sport becoming more popular in the US, many youth leagues are starting to teach kids the importance of sportsmanship, and playing the game in the right manner, in order to win, yet still be a classy player. Knowing the rules is one thing, but many youth leagues are now focusing and teaching the youth players, the importance of sportsmanship, and how to be a fair player in the game, and still being able to win in their matches. This is important so that when these young players start getting older, and going to older leagues, they will have the etiquette, and the proper knowledge, to know how the game should be played, and what it takes to be a great player.
So, as a parent, you are going to want to seek out these leagues which offer this training, and teach your kids that sportsmanship is essential, not only to be a great player, but to be able to be the best competitors. Therefore, as a youth soccer league coach or owner, you have to make sure your staff is properly teaching these skills and knowledge to the kids in the league.
